Residence in the Netherlands after Brexit

10 January 2019

The Dutch government issued its migration policy for British nationals residing in the Netherlands in case of a no-deal Brexit.

British nationals and family members (including family members without a British nationality) who live, work or study in the Netherlands are allowed to continue to do so for a transitional period of 15 months. During this period the Dutch Immigration and Integration Service (IND) will invite all British nationals residing legally in the Netherlands to apply for a national residence permit which is necessary to stay after the transition period. To qualify for a national residence permit one must meet the conditions for residence that apply to EU citizens. Integration measures will not apply for British nationals.
