Femke Schouten

Femke (F.V.) Schouten is specialized in corporate law and mainly focuses on mergers and acquisitions and advice about corporate law in the broadest sense. Femke’s particular areas of interest are ESG (due diligence and advise), real estate and start-ups/scale ups. Femke is an enthusiastic and committed lawyer who wants to do the utmost to facilitate her clients. She has a hands-on approach and presents clear and concrete advices.

Femke was sworn in as a lawyer and started her career at Houthoff Coöperatief U.A. in Rotterdam in 2018. At Houthoff, Femke first worked as a real estate lawyer, where she mainly dealt with transactions in the field of commercial real estate, (commercial) tenancy law and other general contract law relevant to real estate practice. Subsequently, Femke joined Houthoff’s M&A team. She worked on cross border deals and handled due diligence reviews, negotiations and the drafting of the transaction documentation. She furthermore advised on corporate law and corporate governance.

In the performance of her work, Femke distinguishes herself through her commercial approach, by continuously monitoring the progress of processes, increasing the pace where necessary and keeping an eye on working as efficiently as possible. Femke has a heart for her work and her clients and likes to go the extra mile, for example by being easily accessible and taking work off their hands. Femke communicates quickly and clearly and likes to work with other specialists.

She acts for clients in various sectors, including private equity funds and strategic parties.

Femke completed her bachelor's degree in law cum honore at Erasmus University Rotterdam. After her bachelor, Femke successfully finished the double master Toga aan de Maas, where she obtained the Togamaster (specialization Private law) and a master in Corporate law.

  • Advising the shareholders of Timeff with the sale of Timeff to Main Capital Partners.
  • Advising the House of Covebo with the acquisitions of FID Service Groep and Bis People.
  • Advising the shareholders of ZEGRO with the sale of ZEGRO to Bidfood.

Femke has registered the following legal area in the register of legal areas of the Dutch Bar Association:

  • Corporate law

This registration obliges her to obtain ten permanent education points each calendar year in this registered area of law, according to the standards of the Dutch Bar Association.
