Ellen (E.C.) Timmer has been working at Pellicaan Advocaten as an attorney-at-law in business law since 11 January 2002. She graduated in Dutch Law at the VU in Amsterdam (1981) and in Tax Law at Leiden (1993).
From October 1996 until 2002 she worked as a lawyer at Mazars Paardekooper Hoffman. Prior to this she gained experience as a lawyer and tax adviser at BDO CampsObers in Naaldwijk and at law firms in 's-Gravenhage (Barents & Krans) and Oud-Beijerland (Schep Advocaten).
Ellen is very active in the field of business law and company law and follows the new developments in company law in detail.
On LinkedIn Ellen created a group regarding the modernisation of Dutch company law. Currently this group has more than 1000 members.
Another area of interest is financial law. Ellen advises on the Dutch law regarding the remuneration in the public and semi-public sector (Wet normering topfunctionarissen, WNT), the Supervision of Trust Offices Act (Wet toezicht trustkantoren) and the Dutch anti-money laundering act (Wet ter voorkoming van witwassen en financieren van terrorisme, Wwft) and certain parts of the Act on Financial Supervision (Wet op het financieel toezicht).
Further she monitors the consequences of digitalisation for the before mentioned legal areas, especially as far as it concerns cybersecurity and data protection.
